CONCEPTS INTRODUCED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

  • Recognize and name the letters A – Z
  • Begin rudiments of phonetic skills
  • Number recognition 1 – 10
  • Identify 11 colors – red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple, black, brown, white, pink and gray
  • Shape recognition – circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond, oval and heart
  • Exposure to a wide variety of art media
  • Develop scissor skills
  • Develop visual and auditory memory skills
  • Exposure to various “Language” media ; stories, books, songs, poems, fingerplays, puppet activities and fables.
  • Develop small muscle control and eye/hand coordination
  • Continuing development of large muscle control, body coordination, balance, spatial relationships and right/left
  • Classification skills – matching, sorting, seriation, one to one correspondence, opposites and tactual discrimination
